Rishibhama Naval, better known as Simran, is an Indian actress, producer and television personality. She has appeared mainly in Tamil-language films, alongside Telugu-language films, as well as in some Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada films.

She was born April 4th, 1976 in Mumbai and spent most of her childhood there. 

Although Simran initially aspired to become a fashion designer, she accepted to join the Indian film industry, a result of her fame as a presenter of the series Superhit Muqabla, making her Bollywood debut in Sanam Harjai (1995). 

After appearing in some Hindi films, she then made her first hit with Tere Mere Sapne (1996) alongside Arshad Warsi. Subsequently, she made her debut in South Indian cinema with the Malayalam film Indraprastham in 1996 and starred in her first film in Kannada, Simhada Mari and the Telugu film, Abbai Gari Pelli, the following year.

Her Tamil film debut was in 1997, in Once More and V. I. P., But she signed her first Tamil movie with multi-starrer Nerukku Ner.

Simran has two sisters, Monal and Jyothi Naval, and a brother named Sumith. 

She completed her Bachelor of Commerce degree in Mumbai, and also speaks Punjabi, Hindi, English and Tamil. Simran is a trained dancer who mastered Bharatanatyam and Salsa.

Simran received her first Filmfare Award for Best Tamil Actress for Kannathil Muthamittal (2002), where she played the mother of an adopted 9-year-old daughter. In 2002, Simran also appeared in two comedy films; Pammal K. Sambandam and Panchathantiram. Simran took a break from the films following her marriage with her childhood friend Deepak Bagga in 2003. And then in 2008, Simran played a mother and a wife in Vaaranam Aayiram, taking home the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress.


In 2018, Simran made a comeback and  joined the cast of Petta for the first time in her career to play opposite Rajinikanth. Recently, Simran joined the cast of Karthik Subbaraj's upcoming Chiyaan 60, This project will be her second collaboration with Karthik after the Rajinikanth-starrer Petta. Chiyaan 60 marks the third collaboration between Vikram and Simran after her cameo performance in Pithamagan and the yet-to-be-released Gautham Menon film, Dhruva Natchathiram.
