Sid Sriram (stage name) was born Siddhart SriRam on 19th May 1990. He is an Indian-American singer, playback singer, and songwriter. He has been featured in various Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam film industries. Not only that, he is also a Carnatic singer and that’s what makes him appear more entrancing. He usually collaborates with Bharata Natyam dancers, his sister Pallavi Sriram, and well-known music directors.
The Chennai-born singer moved with his parents to California when he was a year old and he grew up in Fremont. Latha Sriram, Sid Sriram’s mother — also a Carnatic music teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area, nurtured his musical skills when he was a kid. He graduated from Mission San Jose High School in 2008, and joined the Berklee College of Music and majored in Music Production and Engineering. Immediately after his graduation, he began visiting India very often to perform Carnatic concerts, including a part in the December Music season, Marghazi Utsavam.
He first gained popularity in India for the song ‘Adiye’ for the soundtrack of Kadal (2013) composed by none other than our A.R. Rahman. Started from Adiye, he is now making headlines with his ever-soothing songs. The songs he gained huge popularity and can still put on loop with no doubts are ‘Thalli Pogathey’ from Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada, ‘Maru Vaarthai Pesathe’ from Enai Noki Paayum Thola, ‘Inkem Inkem Kaavaale’ from Geetha Govindam, ‘ High On Love’ from Pyaar Prema Kaadhal and the list goes on and on.
This 7-time award-winning star has been winning since 2016 up till now. He won Ennodu Ne Irudhaal in Filmfare Awards South (2016), Thalli Pogathey in Asiavision Awards,(2017), Macho in SIIMA Awards(2018), High On Love in Behindwoods Hold Medals (2019) and Fimfare Awards South,(2019), Inkem Inkem in Filmfare Awards South,(2019) and his most recent award goes for Kannaana Kanney In Zee Cine Awards Tamil (2020).
