This month of July, RAAGA will be featuring popular actor Dhanush as the Artist of the Month.
Venkatesh Prabhu Kasthuri Raja, more commonly known by his stage name, Dhanush, is a multiple award-winning Indian movie actor, producer, lyricist, screenwriter, and playback singer. Born on 28 July 1983 in Tamil Nadu, India to director Kasthuri Raja, he led an ordinary life like all of us until he starred in his first movie, Thulluvadho Ilamai, which was directed by his father.
From 2002 onwards, he began working hard to create a name for himself in showbiz. Despite receiving praises from critics and the public, Dhanush didn’t let success get to his hard and continued putting in the hours to deliver memorable performances in movies.
In the 2011 release of Aadukalam—which took three years to shoot, which was his second collaboration with director Vetrimaran, Dhanush played the role of a cockfighter and described the venture as his “dream project”. And indeed it was. Not only did the movie do great, it also picked up six awards at the 58th National Film Award, with Dhanush receiving the Best Actor title, making him the youngest actor to do so.
Following that, he dabbled in directing and other successfully projects. He’s currently awaiting the release of his first Hollywood movie, The Extraordinary Journey Of The Fakir, and working on filming Vada Chennai, Maari 2, and Enai Noki Paayum Thota.
