According to the Education Ministry, candidates who sat for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) last year did better overall, compared to 2017, even though only fewer of them scored straight A's.
The Education director-general Datuk Dr Amin Senin said 8,436, or 2.2% of the 421,706 candidates obtained A+, A or A- in all of their subjects.
The number may look small, but overall, the students did way better when they’re viewed using the National Grade Average (GPN).
“The latest GPN is 4.89, which is better than 2017’s GPN which was 4.9,” he told a press conference here today (Thursday, March 14).
Congratulations, boys and girls! We’re super proud of you.
