Malaysian Star of the Month

Kritigah Kayal Is Our Malaysian Star Of The Month!

Passion Is Key!

kritigah kayal is our malaysian star of the month!

It's the month of August and we at RAAGA have some exciting things in the line-up, waiting for you to uncover. We decided to kick things off with our pick for Malaysian Star Of The Month, Kritigah Kayal!

The following is the exclusive no-holds-barred interview we had with her, put together with love for you, our readers!

RAAGA: Tell us about your background before entering this industry. Who was Kritigah Kayal?
KRITIGAH: She was just an ordinary girl with lots of passion towards dance and acting. I was 16 year old when I first acted on screen. I used to perform for every occasion in school and that’s how I gained my confidence.

RAAGA: Why is this the industry of your choice?
KRITIGAH: I started dancing at the age of 4. Dancing and acting has always been my passion. I love participating in stage dramas and dance performances during my school days. I used to lead the performances.
I got the opportunity to act in an RTM telemovie through my mum’s friend. I was the female lead in the telemovie and I was only 16 year old. It was nerve-wrecking but it was definitely a good start to my career.
I took a break from the industry in my SPM year. And I came back as a host in RTM Saathanai programme when I was 18 year old. Since then, my journey in this industry has settled quite nicely. I became the Champion of Agenda Suria Communication GIF pageant in 2016. I got my breakthrough in the industry through “Kayalvizhi” music video by Mugen Rao and “121” shortfilm by Yuvaraj Krishnasamy which gave me international recognition as I received the  “Best Supporting Actress” award at the Pune International Film Festival 2018.

RAAGA: As a female in this industry, what challenges do you face?
KRITIGAH: In my opinion, female oriented projects are very scarce. I think female actresses will shine better should there be projects that allows us to fully utilize our capabilities. I don’t think it is difficult to stand up and shine among male leads as every artist has different touch to their performance. As long as you do your best and justify your role, you will shine even if you are not the main lead.

RAAGA: What genres of film do you want to act in and why?
KRITIGAH: I have done way too many projects as a homely and feminine character, like girlfriend and wife. I would definitely love to act in roles that have negative shades or roles that are deaf and dumb or blind. I really want to push myself and learn my own capabilities.

RAAGA: If you had the choice to work under one director, who would be your pick and why?
KRITIGAH: There are many amazing directors, putting aside whether they are senior or budding directors. Yet I am definitely waiting to work with Karthik Shamalan. He is one person that I always look up to and I know I can learn alot working under his direction.

RAAGA: What upcoming projects do you have up your sleeve?
KRITIGAH: Currently, I’m a host for Astro Vaanavil’s Go Shop. Most of my projects are in the post-production stage. Among them are as follows:
Movies: Pulanaivu, Mr Peyii, Iravaa Kadhal.
Telemovie: Kattabomman and Nambekkei.
Shortfilm: Surprise, Pagirnthu Kolavum and Rudraa.
2 movies and 2 music videos are in discussion. Got my fingers crossed!

RAAGA: To every aspiring actress out there, what is your word of advice?
KRITIGAH: I’m no senior actress to give advice. I’m also learning about the industry everyday. But what I can share is keep the fire and the passion alive always. This industry requires much patience, hardwork and dedication to sustain your success. Don’t ever take this industry for granted. Stay humble no matter how high you soar. Show your complete loyalty towards the industry and the industry wont let you down. Passion is the key word.

Enjoyed reading this interview with Kritigah? Stay tuned to RAAGA for more exciting stories, coming your way!
