G.V Prakash Kumar is the son of famous playback singer A. R. Reihana and G Venkatesh. He is also the nephew of music maestro A. R.Rahman.

G.V Prakash launched his own production house under the name GV Prakash Kumar Productions. The first movie he worked as a music director is Madha Yaanai Koottam directed by Vikram Sugumaran.
Now, he taken on acting and his first movie was Pencil. There was a delay in releasing the movie and the first movie he starred in that was released was Darling.
2016, has been a good year for GV Prakash as he has several hits like Ennakku Innoru Per Irukku and Kadavul Irukaan Kumaru. He already has movies lined up for 2017, such as Bruce Lee, Adangathey, 4G and Sarva Thaala Mayam.
