liverpool wants egypt to drop salah

Liverpool have asked Egypt to drop Mo Salah from their next international squad.

It's so that the winger can continue his recovery from injury.

Salah has been out of action since mid-last month, after he aggravated a thigh problem that he first picked up while on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.

He has missed 4 matches for Liverpool, including their EFL Cup final win over Chelsea.

--

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says he's grateful that backup goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher decided to stay at Anfield.

Klopp revealed that the Irish youngster wanted to leave last summer, to get regular first team football, but a move failed to materialise.

This season, Kelleher has put in several impressive performances during no.1 keeper Alisson Becker's injury and helped them win the EFL Cup.

--

Separately, Liverpool have gone 4 points clear of Manchester City, after the EPL leaders beat Nottingham Forest 1-0.

4th-placed Aston Villa had a 3-2 win over Luton

Chelsea scored a late goal to draw 2-2 at Brentford

West Ham beat Everton 3-1

Fulham beat Brighton 3-0

And Tottenham had a 3-1 win over Crystal Palace.

--

Red Bull's Max Verstappen has won the season-opening Bahrain F1 GP ahead of teammate Sergio Perez and Ferrari's Carlos Sainz Jr.

--

And there are no Malaysians are left at the German badminton Open.

This is after Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi were beaten by their Chinese opponents in the men's doubles semifinals.
