You may have known him as ‘Surya’s thambi’ before, but now Karthik Sivakumar is truly carving a name for himself out there, one movie at a time.

Karthik (born on 25th May 1977), better known by his stage name, Karthi, debuted in the cinema industry with Aayutha Ezhutthu.
 
The 42-year-old has acted in over 15 movies now and continue to grow by the year.
 
 
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Crescent Engineering College, India and a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering, in the United States. But his qualification didn’t bring him the happiness his passion did, so he returned to India to follow the footsteps of his father and brother.
 
 
His dream to become a director slowly began to come true when he joined Mani Ratnam as an assistant director. But things don’t always go as planned, do they?

Instead, he was offered many acting roles and made his acting debut in Paruthiveeran as the title character, way back in 2007, which gained him the Filmfare Award for Best Actor and a Tamil Nadu State Film Award!

Apart from his film career, Karthi is also actively involved in social welfare activities through his club, ‘Makkal Nala Mandram’.
