Trisha made her debut in the Tamil romantic drama Jodi (1999) but it was an uncredited role for her. Then, she got an opportunity to be the female lead role first time in the 2002 film Mounam Pesiyadhe, co-starred with Suriya. She became a prominent face of the industry after starring in commercially successful films like Saamy (2003) with Chiyaan Vikram, Ghilli (2004) with Thalapathy Vijay and Aaru (2005) with Suriya in Tamil cinema, and Varsham(2004) with Prabas, Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana (2005) with Siddarth, Athadu (2005) with Mahesh Babu and Aadavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule (2007) with Venkathesh in Telugu cinema. Trisha has also starred in the Hindi film Khatta Meetha (2010). Her performances in the comedy drama Abhiyum Naanum (2008), the romantic drama Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010), the political thriller Kodi (2016), the romantic drama '96 (2018) with Prakash Raj, Silambarasan TR, Dhanush and Vijay Sethupathy were met with critical acclaim respectively.

 

 

Recently, Trisha made the most important appearance in Manirathnam magnum opus series, Ponniyin Selvan I (2022) and Ponniyin Selvan II (2023). Her portrayal as the Chola princess, Kundavai in the film made the fans go crazy for her looks and performance throughout the movie.

 

 

Trisha is also being a part of Thalapathy Vijay's most anticipated film of the year, Leo (2023) which is written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. This film also marks the reunion of the lead actors after 15 years post Kuruvi (2008) release. The trailer of the film also suggests that she plays as the wife character to Vijay in this film.
