The people of a village near Palakkad, India, are in disbelief after hearing the story of a young couple who lived in their midst…

Rahman, 34, hid Sajitha, 28, who had left her parents to live with him, for 10 years in a small room without letting the others in the house know she was there!

Rahman’s house was only 500 meters away from Sajitha’s.

Rahman went missing from his house three months ago, and the whole thing came to light when his cousin spotted him in a nearby village.

When local police intervened, Rahman told them the story that he and Sajitha stood before the court and Sajitha expressed her wish to live with him, with both saying they were in love.

Fearing opposition from their families, Sajitha left her house in February 2010, and Rahman hid Sajitha in his room for the past decade.

It all began when Sajitha, who was then 18-years-old, went missing after she left her parents and decided to be with her boyfriend.

Surprisingly, Rahman’s family were completely unaware of the guest that stayed with them for the past 10 years.

Rahman, who is an electrician, used his skills to fit an automatic lock to the room, which was always kept locked for others. He even kept some connected electric wires outside the door, from which his kin got electric shocks a few times when they went near it.

Rahman also started acting weird with his family, which led to them thinking that he had some mental issues. His food habits also changed as he began having a lot, which he would never eat or drink with his family, but would take to his room.

Sajitha, who was hiding in the small room, would only sneak out at night to use the toilet.

Now, after being allowed by the courts to live together, the lovers returned to their rented house at Vithanassery, and are free to live a normal life in the open.
