You will never know where talent can be found, and Srinivasa Gowda was discovered during a participation in Kambala, an annual race held in Karnataka.

Kambala is an event where people race through paddy fields with buffalo for 142 metres. The 28-year old jockey, Srinivasa completed 145 metres in just 13.62 seconds, and that made him the fastest runner in the history of Kambala in that region by record.

This feat by Srinivasa got the attention of the Union Sports Minister, Kiren Rijiju and he tweeted “‘ll call Karnataka's Srinivasa Gowda for trials by top SAI coaches. There's lack of knowledge in masses about the standards of the Olympics especially in athletics where ultimate human strength & endurance are surpassed. I'll ensure that no talents in India are left out untested”.

Many tweets followed that with netizens comparing Srinivasa to Usain Bolt and one even urging the Indian Sport Ministry to “take this man under their wing & make an Olympic champion of him”.

Srinivasa told in an interview that he followed a simple regimen daily for a month by swimming and exercising every day. Furthermore, he practices running on a slushy track when preparing for the Kambala event.

Srinivasa said “I did not think I would run this fast. The buffaloes were quick and I followed them”. But we all know how fast he ran now, and it looks like with proper training and coaching, he could stand a chance to be the next Usain Bolt for the coming Olympics!
