More than just liking pictures and using all those fancy filters, you can now help a person in need with Instagram’s latest feature.

This new feature will allow users to flag a photo if they feel that person needs help. If an individuals photo gets flagged, he or she will receive a message that says “Someone saw one of your posts and thinks you might be going through a difficult time. If you need support, we’d like to help.”  And a few options will be given to them.

In order to provide the right assistance, Instagram is working with organizations like National Eating Disorders Association and a few others.

Yes, technology can be really helpful sometimes.
