Get ready for a show in the skies on 11th January 2020 because that's when the penumbral eclipse is happening. Penumbral means the outer part of a shadow, and in this case the moon passes through the edges of earth's shadow creating a strange shadow on the surface of the moon.

Since this is different than a total lunar eclipse, the moon would not appear to turn reddish, but the moon will appear darker than it normally is. You would not need any special tools to view this, but if you use a camera you'll be able to see the difference clearer. 

The eclipse is said to start at 1:07am on January 11th and end at 5:12am on the same day. The interesting fact about this penumbral eclipse is that it is happening the same as a full moon!
