The 1999 blockbuster movie Mudhalvan directed by Shankar, starring Arjun and Raghuvaran is the story of a common man who gets an unexpected opportunity to become a state chief minister for a day. 

A student of Agriculture Science became the symbolic Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, India for 24 hours. The initiative was taken by Uttarakhand State Commission for Protection of Child Rights to mark the National Girl Child Day. Officials said they took the cue from the movie Mudhalvan in which the protagonist became CM for a day.

Speaking to the local media the one-day CM quoted  “That was just a movie…this is real. You can guess the excitement I feel. I am thankful for providing me this golden opportunity,”.  She added that if she gets a chance to become an actual Chief Minister, she will work to prioritise addressing issues related to children with the utmost importance.
